Outer Eye

Outer Eye

This image was taken from the inside of a castle in Northern Italy. Someone whether guard or resident  could  look outward, to see  the enemy when it  encroached.  When their were no marauder  they could  view the villagers, living their lives on the fertile fields below, or they might just pause to take in  the beauty.  We all have  our peepholes. We peer out through the niches in our protected barriers. It is not always safe out there and we  therefore caution is advised. Fortunately  there are times so vibrant  and promising that we dare to venture out.  Safety, danger , protection , receptivity
compete in this lively interchange called  being alive.
