How The Waking Dream Serves The Brain /And Visa Versa

This photo represents what I have  designated, A Waking Dream.  A Waking Dream, is that intriguing state of being that rests between the conscious self and the subliminal realm.  We all have visited here by choice or by happenstance.  These little worlds can offer  a safe-hold, a passageway, a port of entry. But to what place?  For what ultimate purpose?  I will relay on insights I have gathered and ruminated over through my decades of  therapeutic experiences. I will look to the body of research on creativity and on attachment theory, as well as the compelling discoveries evoked through current neuroscience research.  And last but equally essential, I will turn to poets and mythologists and other coherent dreamers  to assist  me in this ambitious  undertaking.  To try to define this little world might be a fools journey. But fools are indomitable and humble, both qualities I admire.  J. Allan Hobson  has stated that; “The science of waking, sleeping, and dreaming is a key to understanding the most general and significant aspects of philosophy, psychology and physiology”.  I suggest that our meander through the portals of the,Waking Dream may lead us anywhere.
